The article focuses on the taxonomic study оf toponyms, based semantic and etymological information. A toponym is a word or phrase used to indicate, denote, identify geographic locality. purpose of describe comprehensively toponymic system German language broad typological background. object toponymy localized in modern borders Germany. subject scientific consideration are linguistic-cultural features toponyms. Toponymy divides place-names into two categories: habitation names feature names. name denotes peopled locality, usually dates from locality’s inception.
